Staffordshire Commissioner for Police, Fire & Rescue and Crime Ben Adams has announced Glynn Luznyj as his preferred candidate to become the county’s next Chief Fire Officer.

Luznyj is currently Deputy Chief Fire Officer with Staffordshire Fire & Rescue Service.

His appointment is subject to a confirmation hearing by the Police, Fire & Crime Panel, scheduled for 9 February 2026.

Luznyj brings almost three decades of experience within the service. He began his career as a firefighter at Newcastle Fire Station in 1996 and spent the following ten years working in operational roles across northern Staffordshire.

In 2007 he was promoted to Station Manager and later became Area Commander for Stoke-on-Trent. He joined the service’s Principal Officer team as a director in 2015 and has served as Deputy Chief Fire Officer in recent years.

If confirmed, Luznyj is expected to take up the role later this year, succeeding the current postholder and leading the service through the next phase of its strategic development.
