New national Emergency Services & Resilience Week launched

The organisers of The Emergency Services Show have launched Emergency Services & Resilience Week, a new national initiative bringing together the UK’s emergency and resilience community to strengthen preparedness, coordination and response capability.

Taking place from 14–20 September 2026, the week will bring together blue light services, government, Local Resilience Forums, local authorities and industry partners around a single objective: improving how the sector prepares for, responds to and recovers from increasingly complex and interconnected incidents.

Resilience is no longer a standalone function within emergency services and the public sector. It now sits at the centre of operational readiness, infrastructure protection and response capability. Today’s risks are no longer isolated or linear. Cyber disruption, climate-related events, pressure on critical infrastructure and global instability are increasingly interconnected and capable of cascading across multiple systems with little warning.

Recent instability in the Middle East, including escalating tensions involving Iran, is a clear example of how quickly global events can translate into domestic operational pressure, affecting energy security, fuel supply, logistics, communications and wider supply chains. Alongside this, rising cyber threats and increasing strain on public infrastructure are intensifying the need for coordinated, multi-agency response and more integrated resilience planning.

Against this backdrop, Emergency Services & Resilience Week reflects a clear shift towards more joined-up working, stronger interoperability and closer alignment between local and national resilience capability.

The initiative is powered by The Emergency Services Show, The Emergency Tech Show and Emergency Services Times, bringing together live events, editorial insight and digital engagement into a coordinated national programme.

It will also support the launch of the Local Resilience Forum Conference, taking place at The Emergency Services Show, providing a dedicated platform for LRF leaders and partners to share practice, strengthen coordination and address shared operational challenges.

In addition, the week will see the launch of the Resilience 360 Summit, a cross-sector initiative designed to bring a more integrated view of resilience by connecting public and private sector capability around preparedness and response.

At the centre of the week are the 2026 editions of The Emergency Services Show and The Emergency Tech Show, taking place at the NEC Birmingham on 16–17 September. These will act as the sector’s primary face-to-face meeting point for operational leaders, policymakers and technology providers.

At a time when information flows are increasingly complex and harder to verify, face-to-face engagement remains essential. It enables trust to be built quickly, ideas to be tested in real time and relationships to be strengthened across organisations responsible for joint response.

Tristan Norman, Managing Director of Nineteen Group, said: “Emergency Services & Resilience Week is about responding to the reality facing the sector. The operating environment is becoming more complex, and stronger coordination and collaboration are now essential to effective resilience.”

Catherine Levin, Editor of Emergency Services Times, added: “This provides a national platform for the sector to come together around shared challenges. It enables better alignment, shared learning and stronger capability across response and resilience.”

Emergency Services & Resilience Week will feature a coordinated programme of events, briefings and partner activity focused on emergency response, resilience planning, crisis coordination, recovery and capability development.
