Airbus Defence and Space has launched the Wildfire Sentinel, a holistic, data-driven firefighting ecosystem designed to transform wildfire management from reactive tactics to proactive, data-driven operations.

Describing the system as a bridge between ground teams and aerial platforms like drones, Airbus said a the launch that took place at Interschutz, that this innovation creates a resilient ‘digital shield’ to ensure the seamless exchange of data and improved situational awareness.

At the heart of the Wildfire Sentinel is an adaptable ‘Lego-like’ modular framework designed to integrate seamlessly with legacy systems. Airbus says the framework blends its core technology bricks – including high-capacity aerial platforms, robust tactical communication networks, and advanced flight operations – with specialised solutions from partnering companies to deliver a holistic ecosystem tailored to a region’s specific geography and assets.

The ecosystem operates through an end-to-end mission cycle built upon eight distinct operational phases starting with preparation through to incident replay. It replaces traditional voice-radio coordination with precise visual data, such as real-time infrared drone feeds. Airbus describes the Wildfire Sentinel as “a vital force multiplier for emergency services.”
