Ian Moore OBE has stood down as CEO of the Fire Industry Association with immediate effect, citing illness and a need to prioritise rest and recovery. The FIA said his decision to step down was “testament to Ian’s whole attitude of putting the FIA first.”
Leaving after ten years at the fire safety trade association which has over 1200 members, the FIA said that it stood firmly behind his decision to leave. Martin Watson, Chair of the FIA commented: “Ian leaves the FIA in a significantly stronger position than when he joined.”
Commenting on his departure, Moore said: “It has been an absolute privilege to lead such a talented and committed team over the past decade.” The FIA said that during his tenure, membership had doubled and its influence had expanded through representation on standards bodies in the UK and internationally. He was awarded an OBE in 2025 for his services to the fire industry and public safety.
The FIA said it will be looking at structures and leadership under the guidance of its Board. Day-to-day management remains with Chief Operating Officer, Andrew Legerton-Lynch.
