Anti-social behaviour almost halved in Southend amid £1.1m hotspots crackdown
Incidents of anti-social behaviour in Southend have almost halved in the last 12 months as police have ramped up their patrols in hotspot areas for drug offences and nuisance activity.
The city has two Operation Dial anti-social behaviour hotspot zones, and police have been working with the council and Southend BID to combat incidents in the High Street and surrounding areas. More via Yahoo! News
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service benefits from technology boost
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service (HIWFRS) has partnered with ExcelerateTechnology to develop a new Incident Command Unit (ICU).

Devon Air Ambulance sees ‘record number of rescues’ in 2023
Devon Air Ambulance (DAA) has rescued a record number of patients in 2023, bosses say.
The latest figures show crew attended 2,226 incidents across the county, a 21% increase on the previous year, they said.
Of those missions, 1,040 were classed as medical emergencies and 1,176 were “trauma-related incidents”. More via BBC News
Plans for 24 hour ambulance first responder amenity at Fleetwood community hub
A new state-of-the-art youth and community centre based in Lancashire’s former Fleetwood Hospital could include a 24-hour first responder amenity run by the North West Ambulance Service.
An application has been lodged with Wyre planners to vary a condition in a planning application to allow for a change in opening hours to accommodate the ambulance service project. More via Blackpool Gazette
Norovirus cases grow as thousands still in hospital with winter viruses
Thousands of people were in hospital with seasonal viruses last week – including rising numbers with norovirus – as NHS staff continue to deal with a range of winter pressures.
Nevertheless, despite the sustained pressure on services, the number of hours lost to ambulance handover delays has significantly improved, down 43% in a week from 28,872 to 16,554. More via NHS England
No fly zones above Berkshire reveal illegal areas to fly drones
A no-fly zone map has revealed the areas in Berkshire where it is illegal to fly a drone.
According to the app Drone Buddy, Slough and Windsor are largely no-fly zones due to their proximity to Heathrow Airport.
Previously drones have been flown within 3 feet of planes, prompting emergency responses on several occasions. More via Bracknell News

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service has offered to visit vulnerable members of the public to help prevent and prepare for emergency incidents. More via Newark Advertiser
