In a first for The Emergency Services Show, the Supplier Sessions brings insights from companies providing solutions across the blue light sector.

Technology

Kamran Ashraf, head of Digital Lab at National Highways, talks about how the organisation is accelerating its work to respond to the needs of the nation’s drivers. During the Supplier Sessions at The Emergency Services Show, he says that National Highways is focused on partnering with other tech firms in this space and not reinventing what is already there; he wants to make it easier for them to use National Highways data to improve safety on the road network.

Frontline

Brian Hesler and Kevin Barton spoke at The Emergency Services Show about how Dräger UK is helping fire and rescue services keep firefighters safe. They talk about the innovations coming out of the learning from the Grenfell Tower fire in 2017 which include a new thermal imaging camera as well as improved location tracking for firefighters while inside buildings and contributing to ‘the healthy firefighter campaign.’

Technology

Gareth Evans from Haas Alert is joined by David Crombie from ACETECH for this conversation at The Emergency Services Show where they talk about how Haas Alert’s Safety Cloud is now being used for the first time by a UK ambulance service. South East Coast Ambulance Service is now using Safety Cloud, thanks to an integration led by partner ACETECH meaning that drivers now can see when ambulances in this region are approaching on blue lights well ahead of seeing them.

Paul Speight developed his expertise in virtual reality training in Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service and since retiring from operational duties he has worked with many organisations to hone how this works in emergency services. During the Supplier Sessions at The Emergency Services Show, he was joined by Ted O’Brien from FLAIM and Alex Harvey from RiVR, both working in the VR world and they shared their thoughts about the future of VR to improve training in all aspects of the the emergency services.

Sustainability

Eric Warren, CEO of Eco-Mist spoke at The Emergency Services Show 2024 about how his company is taking an environmental-first approach to infection control. He talks about how the misting approach used by Eco-Mist reduces the time taken to disinfect ambulances meaning that they are on the road more quickly and by not using hazardous chemicals in the process, they are more environmentally friendly too.

At this year’s Emergency Services Show, Sian Allen and Joel Nash from RRT were joined by SM Paul Staples from National Resilience to talk about how RRT is evolving its services to help the emergency services when they are responding to major incidents. The conversation turns to the important topic of fatigue and how first responders can manage their mental health, with good nutrition at the heart of the 24/7 services provided by RRT.

Chris Poe, Director of Community Development for 49 North spoke at The Emergency Services Show 2024 about building the resilience of frontline responders. The company is bringing expertise from the military to public safety to enhance psychological resilience and in this interview shares more about the company, its approach and solutions for the emergency services.
