Ahead of Response Policing Week, ACC Matt Boyle from Greater Manchester Police who is the NPCC Response Policing lead shares why the first response policing conference is taking place in the heart of Manchester.

Taking place on Thursday 29 January 2026, Deeds Not Words, is the theme of this year’s Women in the Shade conference, reflecting a shared determination to move beyond statements of intent and focus on meaningful, measurable action that supports Black women working in uniformed services.

The National Fire Chiefs Council’s Academic Collaboration, Evaluation and Research (ACER) board is hosting its first conference on 18 and 19 March with academic speakers sharing work focused on prevention, protection, response, looking after people, and how history may play a role in the culture of fire and rescue services.

Following another successful conference last November, which saw over 400 delegates in attendance, FIRE 2022 is set to return later…
