Increasing patient comfort and preventing hypothermia during transit to healthcare settings are key to AK Med Tec’s heated mattress which fits all models of stretchers used by the ambulance service and other health care settings.

AK Med Tech has developed an innovative device designed to provide the patient with regulated heat through active preheating or direct heating of the stretcher mattress or vacuum mattress.

The mattress can be heated to either, 32°, 36° and 40°C using an integrated, battery-powered heating system. AK Med Tec says this is one of the reasons why its mattress won first prize at the Secours Expo 2024 Innovation Awards.

The mattress offers simple analog control intuitive operation with sensors to prevent overheating, an automatic heating shut-off after 45 minutes and a magnetic closure of the safety tab which holds the battery in case of shock due to an accident or crash. It comes with a battery with a four-hour runtime in continuous operation.

All seams are welded internally, and the absence of corners, cracks and edges makes cleaning easy and no liquid can penetrate inside the mattress.
