Essex fire service partner with ambulance service for faster emergency response

Frinton and Dunmow Fire Stations are now response posts for the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust (EEAST) as part of a three-year collaboration with Essex County Fire and Rescue Service (ECFRS).

UK police chief who declared her force ‘institutionally racist’ says culture is changing

A chief constable who acknowledged that her force was “institutionally racist” has said the culture is changing for the better.

Sarah Crew, the chief constable of Avon and Somerset, said her declaration a year ago has helped the force deal better with a series of high-profile killings in the past 12 months. More via The Guardian

Only one in five incidents attended by Welsh fire service are actual fires

Firefighters from Mid and West Wales attended more than 13,000 incidents in 2023-24, but fewer than 20% of them were fires. By far the largest majority of call-outs were for false alarms, which the fire service has said it will no longer respond to in certain circumstances as of this month. More via Wales Online

The team trying to cut down on ambulance call-outs

Every ambulance crew sitting outside a hospital means fewer available to send to other emergency calls. That’s why each Scottish Ambulance Service control centre now has a clinical hub team whose job it is to assess calls that are categorised as not immediately life-threatening. More via BBC News
