Making a difference within safeguarding using the Microsoft Power Platform

At The Emergency Tech Show 2024, as part of the Microsoft Partner Pavilion, we’ll be demonstrating how we enable colleagues and key stakeholders of blue light organisations such as police forces to deliver target outcomes and benefits through using the composability of the Microsoft Power Platform to reimagine current ways of working and drive end to end transformation.

One of our most impactful projects, delivered for a UK police force, is focused on the safeguarding of vulnerable members of the public. This is a crucial area, facing ever-increasing pressures, where timely case management is critical to support positive outcomes.

The initial ‘exam question’ from the force focused on automating tasks within the ‘as is’ process. During the discovery phase, we found that a lot of time was actually being lost through fragmentation in the process, caused by having data siloed in Excel, word documents and email inboxes. This also meant that it was difficult to have a 360 degree view of how cases were progressing, and the manual nature of the process added to existing staff pressures.

It was a great opportunity to utilise a mix of Microsoft Power Platform capabilities to redefine – with the team – the way that they manage requests and workload, building them something secure, future-proof and flexible to aid continuous improvement.

Taking an agile, iterative approach, Robiquity developed three core case management applications covering:

  • The Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme (DVDS), also known as “Clare’s Law” which enables the police to disclose information to a victim or potential victim of domestic abuse about their partner’s or ex-partner’s previous abusive or violent offending
  • Child Sex Offender Disclosure Scheme, also known as “Sarah’s Law” which lets those who care for young people find out if a person has a record for child sexual offences.
  • Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conferences (MARACs) used to support and protect individuals who are at the highest risk of domestic abuse, bringing together representatives from key authorities so information can be shared, and safety plans developed to protect a victim

Each application utilises a mix of low code, automation, data and reporting solutions to streamline the research process and provide a single source of truth for data collection, collation, reporting and dissemination of cases.

Critically, the force has seen direct benefits following implementation including improved case processing time and volume of cases processed to aid public protection. The force has also seen increased auditability and visibility of cases, in-built automated reporting to understand areas such as SLA adherence, improved data quality and reduced manual errors, improved employee experience and satisfaction with solutions built around them.

And all of this, due to the advantage of low code, was achieved in weeks, with benefits for the force continuing to be seen.

We’ll be demonstrating to see first hand how intelligent automation, AI and low code solutions are making a difference to UK policing. You can also attend our seminar “Thinking bigger: Making a difference within safeguarding using the Microsoft Power Platform” at 11-30-12pm on Wednesday 18th September.

The industry will once again be gathering at the NEC, Birmingham for The Emergency Services Show, co located with The Emergency Tech Show on 18-19 September, check out the full exhibitor list here. You can find Robiquity in Hall 4, stand D92, part of the Microsoft Partner Pavilion.
